Like other marginalized student populations, LGBTQ students – those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, or questioning – look to faculty for support in the classroom and inclusion in the curriculum. Many of these students spend their days navigating overt and covert instances of discrimination on campus; classes, co-curricular activities, and extracurricular environments often fail to accept their differences and respect their identities.
